[HOW TO] Convert PS3 console to DEX with CFW REX 4.7x

With this tutorial you will be able to convert your console Retail (CEX) in Debug Console (DEX) quickly and easily through the CFW 4.70 REX and the Toolbox provides with 02.02.04.

Required:

• The Toolbox The Rebug 02.02.04
• CFW Rebug REX 4.70, available HERE

Caution: If you follow this tutorial to the letter, you do not run the risk of brick your console, however, zero risk does not exist. If it had to happen one trouble when CEX2DEX conversion in any case I would not be responsible.

Dump the root_key

To begin this tutorial, I'm assuming that you are on CFW 4.70 REX. So once you are there, we have to first install the Rebug Toolbox.Little explanation how: Go to "Manage PKG" then "File Installation PKG" and then "Internal Storage PS3" and in this directory you have the Toolbox provides the CFW, then you can the install. Once this is done, you can start it.

Once on the Toolbox, go left on the "System" then "System Information", you should have your Target in Type CEX and the LV2.

The first step is to dump the root_key your console, prime for conversion into DEX. So to do that, go to the far left tab "Utilities" and get off on the penultimate option named "Dump eid root key" and press X.

The console will then ask you a confirmation and the complete path from where it will be stored, you can confirm.

At that time you will have a black-screen for a few seconds and the console will beep 3x and restart, this is normal.

Once you are back on the XMB, go again on the Toolbox and this time on the "DEX / CEX" then "Target ID in Flash Rewrite", select this option by pressing X

Now is the big change from before. The Toolbox is written so go look in the directory "/ dev_hdd0 / game / RBGTLBOX2 / USDIR" to see if a dump of root_key is present, and if it does, the Toolbox will ask you if you want that he do the conversion automatically CEX to DEX, that's good because this is what we want, you can press "Yes".

The console will then restart alone to apply the changes. Once on the XMB, still go to the Toolbox and then again on "System Information" using the "System" tab and you will see that your Target Type is DEX. You can also put your LV2 DEX via the "Swap LV2 Kernel" based on the "DEX / CEX".

That is, your console is already converted into DEX, with this method it is even more necessary to have a PC handy for converting the CEX -> DEX "manually", the Toolbox that handles everything. Now that the console is in DEX, you can install CFW 4.70 Rebug D-REX for better stability of your PS3.
